Nicolas Cage’s acting career is coming to an end.
Since his legendary role as Ben Gates National treasure to his Oscar-winning performance in the Departure from Las Vegas, Cage left his mark on practically every film genre. And now he is about to conclude his time on the big screen.
Ahead of the release of his latest film, A24’s A dream scenariosaid the actor — who turns 60 in January vanity fair that when it comes to his future in Hollywood, he is “beginning to cement my plan.”

“I might have three or four more movies in me,” Cage told the magazine. The actor added that he “said what I had to say with the cinema” and “took the cinematic performance as far as I could.”
“I want to say goodbye on a high note,” Cage said VF. “I was thinking about how much time I had left. I thought, ‘Okay, my dad died at 75, I’m going to be 60. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll have a good 15 years, and hopefully more. What do I want to do when I’m 15, using my father as a model?’”
Cage said the answer to that question “happened very clearly.” The actor – who welcomed a daughter with wife Riko Shibata last year on August 1 and has two sons, Weston, 32, and Kal-El, 18, from previous relationships – said: “I want to spend time with my family.”

As Renfield star ends his film career, he is careful not to “get stuck,” he said VF.
Cage added that he wanted to “explore the edge of screen performance.” He also expressed interest in “transitioning” to the small screen, with a nod to Bryan Cranston’s five seasons as Walter White in Breaking Bad.
“Maybe it’s time to look at the immersive streaming experience. I don’t know,” he told the magazine. “I have to look for the next step, and I haven’t found it yet.”

As he chooses his last few projects, Cage — who has amassed more than a hundred screen credits since his first role in 1981. The best of timesaccording to IMDB — said he wanted to be “stricter and stricter in his casting process.”
“But I want to look ahead,” he added. “I want to see what’s next.”
Cage also mentioned the end of his film career while talking to Party tonight last month.
When asked about his plans for his upcoming birthday, the star told the outlet that he’s “recording what’s really important,” which includes reading “a book a week,” spending time with his daughter — and “maybe not [making] as many movies.”
