Nicole Kidman on the Reality of the Red Carpet: ‘I Want to Get Out, Take My Dress Off and Put My Jammies On!’

Nicole Kidman gets candid about how she really feels about red carpet glamour.

In an interview for Ella‘with In the April 2024 issue of Influence , the 56-year-old actress said that preparing to attend A-list events can be “overwhelming” and “sometimes a little surreal.”

“I want to go out and take my dress off and put on my jammies,” Kidman said. “It’s kind of like the opposite of Cinderella — I’m happy to go home and just come back to myself. I feel a little overwhelmed. I’m like, ‘I have to go home now. I’m so tired.’ I want to be warm, I want to curl up and I want to feel real.”

Kidman was styled in Dolce & Gabbana lingerie and Cartier jewelery as she sat on a chair and looked confidently into the camera for the magazine cover. She oozed glamor as she modeled additional outfits, including a sexy Fleur du Mal bodysuit, a fitted red Balenciaga dress and an asymmetric white dress also by Balenciaga.

It’s no surprise that Kidman’s look featured Balenciaga designs, as she was named the brand’s ambassador in December 2023.

“Balenciaga has been with me through some of the most memorable events of my life, from my wedding to the Oscars red carpet,” Expats the star said in a press release announcing the news.

Although Kidman gets a lot of different experiences, she said Ella that he gets fulfillment in life from the people he loves.

“I have a very full life with people I love. I’m raising my daughters. I’m a wife, I’m a best friend. I’m a sister, I’m an aunt. I have deeply intimate relationships with people,” she said. “And that, in my opinion, is the meaning of life – and then also care about what we leave behind, who we leave behind and how we do it, and our sense of respect for that.”
