Nicole Scherzinger Details How to Recreate Her Sunset Blvd. Costume for Halloween — Including Fake Blood

Need a last minute Halloween costume? Nicole Scherzinger has you covered.

The 46-year-old singer stars as Norma Desmond in the Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s opera Sunset Boulevard people talk for many reasons. Scherzinger’s final costume – a simple black plunging dress with blood smeared across her body – is almost as stunning as her vocal performance.

In an interview with Broadway.com Editor-in-Chief Paul Wontorek airing Wednesday, Oct. 30, the Pussycat Dolls alum shares how fans can recreate the amazing look for Halloween this year. The main advantage of the costume, Scherzinger shares, is its cheapness.

“You could probably do it for $15 or so,” she tells Wontorek. “All you need is a black knicker, you don’t even need shoes. Put the slides on just to make sure you can get from one place to another. You don’t need any jewelry. Norma doesn’t wear jewelry because she’s a sleepwalker.”

Nicole Scherzinger receives 6-minute standing ovation for triumphant Broadway opening performance Sunset Blvd.

As for the scariest part of the ensemble, the star reveals that the Broadway production uses corn syrup for the fake blood.

“So it has a really rich consistency,” she explains. “And just get that blood over your collarbone and ribcage.”

For an extra tip, Scherzinger recommends placing fake blood in the palm of your hand, bringing it to your chin, and letting it run down your face, neck and chest.
