Nicole Scherzinger Performs Stunning Rendition of 'What I Did for Love' During 2024 Tony Awards' In Memoriam Tribute

Nicole Scherzinger took the stage in one of the most poignant moments of the 2024 Tony Awards.

The actress and singer appeared at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City on Sunday, June 16, to perform during the In Memoriam segment, honoring those in the theater community who have died over the past year.

Brooke Shields introduced the segment. “As president-elect of the Actors Equity Association, I’m so proud to be here to celebrate the entire theater community,” said the actress, 59. “But this is a bittersweet moment, as we also honor the memories of those who are no longer with us . Along with every famous artist there are countless others whose contributions on stage and behind the scenes have changed Broadway forever.”

She then introduced Olivier Award winner Scherzinger, 45, who sang a heartfelt and somber version of “What I Did For Love” from the musical Refrain.

Theater personalities included in the In Memoriam series segment included Christopher Durang, Louis Gossett Jr., Hinton Battle, Maurice Hines, Michael McGrath, Ron Cephas Jones, Alan Arkin, Glenda Jackson, Treat Williams and Illinois production manager Thomas J. Gates, among others.
