Nihal was born on March 28, 1982, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (age 37 in 2019). He studied at Narmonji College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. As a child, he was not very keen on studies but very keen on sports. He is a sprinter and also represents Maharashtra in sprint events. He was passionate about cricket and often missed his college days because of it. He played cricket in school and college and also represented Mumbai in this and this cricket team.
He first appeared in Salman Khan’s film “Marigold” when he accompanied his doctor uncle on a filming trip when the cast suffered from heatstroke. His interest in acting convinced him that he wanted to pursue this career and hence, he joined Anupam Kher’s Actors Preparation Institute to hone his acting skills. Following Priyanka Chopra’s advice, he studied hard and learned Kathak from Veeru Krishna to solve the rhythm problem. Along with Kathak, he also mastered Hindustani classical music.
Nihal forayed into Bollywood with Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019), a historical biopic based on the life of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, opposite Kangana Ranaut. In the film, he plays the role of Baji Rao II.
