- The life of Nishita’s husband, Charles Sobhraj, has been adapted into many books, films and web series. The Bollywood film Main Aur Charles, which starred actor Randeep Hooda as the protagonist Charles Sobhraj, was released in 2016, while the Netflix and BBC web series The Serpent was released in April 2021.

- On her first day on Bigg Boss, Nihita faced an awkward situation when a contestant asked her if she had had sex with Sobhraj. Initially, Nihita dodged the question; however, when asked the same thing repeatedly, she denied having sex with the old man. This question confused and irritated Nihita’s family and relatives in Nepal. Nihita’s mother even spoke about the incident during an interaction with media persons. She said,
I was shocked to hear the contestant’s question. Nepal is a conservative society and we didn’t expect such sensational and ignorant remarks. Sobhraj is in jail and Nishita is not. How could anyone raise the question of having sex with a prisoner?
- Nishita believes her husband was wrongly convicted of the 1975 murder of an American in Nepal, where Charles was arrested in 2004 and ultimately sentenced to life in prison without any credible evidence to prove his guilt.
