Niki Mehra was born on Monday, August 2, 1993 as Nikita Mehra (27 years old in 2020) in New Delhi, India. She studied for an Honours degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. After that, she studied for a Masters degree in Economics from South Asian University, New Delhi. Since childhood, Niki has been fond of makeup and fashion. During her childhood, she often put on her mother’s makeup and took pictures. In an interview, she said,
My mum studied fashion design and my dad is a hardcore businessman, so I think I’ve always had a knack for fashion entrepreneurship. As I got older and started to really enjoy fashion and makeup, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.”

In a Tedx Talks video, she talked about her last relationship which ended in 2016. She mentioned that the reason for the breakup was that her ex-boyfriend’s parents did not like the lifestyle Nikki displayed on her social media accounts. Later, in 2018, Nikki met fashion entrepreneur Sid Madan during London Fashion Week, and their work trip soon became the beginning of their relationship.

In 2016, while studying for her Master’s degree, she realized that economics was not her passion, so she tried fashion blogging partly for fun, as her studies were quite tough and challenging. Surprisingly, by the end of 2016, her readership had grown significantly, so she decided to pursue blogging full-time. In an interview, she said,
My entire plan was secret. No one knew about it, except for my best friend who helped me take photos for the blog. I told myself that if I couldn’t connect with so many people in a year, then no one would know and I could go back to the life I had been working towards for 23 years: becoming an economist.”
As her blog was gaining popularity, she won the Paris Fashion Contest held by leading crystal jewelry brand Swarovski and was hired as a brand ambassador for Swarovski’s international events.

Another golden milestone in Niki Mehra’s career was when she was picked by the high-end sportswear brand ‘Puma’ to interview Hollywood star Rihanna about the launch of her beauty brand ‘Fenty collection’.

Later, she appeared on the covers of popular magazines like Cosmopolitan India, Grazia, Wedlook, and Vogue India. Through her widely recognized blog and other social media platforms, she was able to earn a regular income. She has since collaborated with various brands like Maybelline, Kerastase, H&M, Forever21, Amazon, and many more.

- As a student, Niki was a brilliant student who dreamed of becoming an economist. Due to her heavy academic workload, she decided to start blogging as a pastime, which she later pursued full-time.
- Much to her dismay, she was heavily bashed and ridiculed by her relatives who considered modeling and fashion a disrespectful career choice. Although her mother supported her throughout her career, Nikki’s family often compared her to her wealthy brother, who graduated from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and is currently an investment banker. In an interview, she said,
My family was not too keen on me going into this field, partly because the concept was so new in India and hardly anyone understood it, and partly because I gave up a good job to work from home, which in their eyes meant ‘doing nothing’ and having no money.”
