Nina Dobrev sheds new light on the cycling accident that forced her to undergo surgery.
During the Wednesday, June 12 episode Conversationthe actress, 35, revealed that the appearance on the talk show was her “first time actually leaving the house in over two months.”
“I had knee surgery; I got a huge prosthetic. I can’t really walk on my own yet…I had a broken knee as well as an ACL and meniscus repair,” she explained.
When asked how she got injured, vampire Diaries alum revealed that she was “riding a dirt bike for the first time and it didn’t go well.”

“I don’t recommend it guys. It’s okay, I learned my lesson, don’t ever get on a dirt bike. I was in the wheel, I lost control, the whiskey was choked, the engine flew,” Dobrev recalled. “Luckily, he didn’t fall on me, which the doctor said would have been much worse. But when I landed, I landed on one leg, flat, and my knee felt like it popped.”
Dobrev said she was happy to get out of the house and have “an excuse to dress up.”
She shared that her recovery process involved taking more selfies of her feet and petting her pets.
“Cuddle puddle is my life these days, it’s just doggies, and at home watching movies, physical therapy, eating, sleeping or peeing is kind of a schedule,” she said, revealing that she also uses the time to watch Fargo.

“Fargo is what I’m looking at right now. I called my agents. I love it, so I’m so obsessed with the show, and I was like, ‘You’ve got to put me on this show.’ And they say: ‘That’s from ten years ago, you’re too late’. ”
Dobrev also commented on an Instagram video she shared earlier in June that showed her boyfriend Shaun White dancing in white vampire Diaries sweater.
“You know, when you can’t get out of the bedroom, you’re either watching TV or having a live party. That’s my live party,” she joked.

Dobrev first announced that she is recovering from her bike accident in an Instagram post on Monday, May 20. The post included a photo of Dobrev next to her bike and another of her lying in a hospital bed. She captioned the post “how it started vs. how it’s going.”
