Application for NIRF 2024 ends
NIRF Ranking 2024: The Ministry of Education will today complete the application process for higher education institutions applying for the National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF). Eligible institutes can apply for NIRF 2024 online at nirfindia.org till 5 pm today. The Ministry announced that only those institutes that have graduated at least three groups of students in regular programs will be taken into account for the ranking, with the duration not being shorter than three years for UG and two years for PG programs.
Also, higher education institutions that participated in NIRF 2023 are pre-registered. The ministry said. “A mail in this regard has already been sent to the heads of respective institutions to confirm the institution details for India Ranking 2023.”

NIRF 2024 Ranking Parameters
The National Institutional Ranking Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by the HRD Minister on 29 September 2015. The HEIs can check the parameters based on which the NIRF 2024 ranking will be published:
Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)
These parameters are related to the basic activities of any learning site:
- Student strength including PhD students (SS)
- Faculty to Student Ratio with Emphasis on Permanent Faculty (FSR)
- Combined metric for faculty with a PhD (or equivalent) and experience (FQE)
- Financial resources and their use (FRU)
Research and professional practice (RP)
Excellence in teaching and learning is closely related to scholarship. Check the parameters below:
- Combined publication metrics (PU)
- Combined metric for publication quality (QP)
- Intellectual property rights and patents: published and granted (IPR)
- Footprint of projects and professional practice (FPPP)
Matriculation results (GO)
This parameter constitutes the ultimate test of the effectiveness of basic teaching/learning:
- Metrics for University Examinations (GUE)
- Metrics for the number of doctoral graduates (GPHD)
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
The ranking framework places special emphasis on the representation of women:
- Percentage of students from other states and countries (regional diversity RD)
- Percentage of women (diversity of women WD)
- Economically and socially disadvantaged students (ESCS)
- Facilities for students with physical disabilities (PCS)
- Perception (PR) order
Peer perception
The ranking methodology gives significant importance to the perception of the institution:
- Academic colleagues and employers (PR)
