Nirmala Channapa or Nirmala Chennappa is an Indian actress, director and producer, primarily working in the Kannada film industry. She is known for her role as “Jaya” in the Kannada film Thallana (2012).

Nirmala Channapa was born on Sunday, June 21, 1987 (age 34 in 2021) and her birthplace is Bengaluru. Her zodiac sign is Cancer. Nirmala holds a Masters degree in Arts, Social Work and Drama. She excelled in sports from a young age and was a kabaddi player during her school days. It was during her PU vacation that someone suggested that she attend an acting workshop. Although she had never thought of acting before, she decided to attend a drama workshop at TS Nagabharana’s Benaka troupe. There, she learned different forms of drama and was seen as the best actress at the workshop. Soon, Benaka invited her to join their troupe. She then went to Rangayana for three months of acting training.

Profession
Nirmala started her career as a theatre artist and acted in around 14 to 15 plays. She did not want to limit herself to acting, so she also worked in stage lighting, designing and makeup. Slowly, she started working as a theatre artist and technician. Nirmala Channapa made her Kannada debut in the 2012 film Thallana, in which she played the role of ‘Jaya’.

She then acted in the Kannada films Jigarthanda (2016) and Kiragoorina Gayyaligalu (2016). She has also acted in the Kannada television series Kicchu (2018) and Parvati Parameshwara (2014). In 2021, she participated in the reality show Bigg Boss Kannada 8.

Apart from being an actor and theatre artist, she is also an entrepreneur and founded the production house ‘Sai Nirmala Productions.’ Nirmala was the creative director of the television serial ‘Padmavathi’ (2018), which was produced by her production house.
