Nisha Upadhyay was born on Friday, 12 April 1996 (27 years old; as of 2023) in Gauhar Basant village, Garkha tehsil, Saran district, Bihar state, India. Her zodiac sign is Aries. She has been interested in music since she was a child and participated in school singing competitions. Her singing talent was discovered by her school teachers when she sang for the first time at a school event during her third grade studies. She studied till Class 12 at Mahavir Public School in Saran, Bihar. She later ventured to pursue a career in the Bhojpuri music industry.

Breach of COVID-19 protocols
On July 2, 2021, during her brother Ravi’s wedding, she did not follow COVID-19 rules as more than 50 people were gathering in one area, some of whom were also not wearing masks. Many Bhojpuri singers perform at weddings. When the matter was reported to the police, FIR number 463/ was registered against her and 102 others under IPC Sections 188/269/270/34 and Section 3 Epidemic Diseases and the Bihar Control and Loudspeaker Act 09 of 1955. 21 Garka Police Station, Saran District.

Scorpio road accidents
On November 16, 2022, she was going to perform live. When she was in the Ekma area of Saran District, the driver stopped the Scorpio SUV and opened the door. A motorcyclist named Dhananjay Mahto, 35, collided with the open car door and later died during treatment. After the accident, local people caused riots in the area, resulting in her having to lock herself in the SUV. The police later arrived and calmed the people. FIR number 448/22 was registered at Ekma police station in Saran district against the absconding Scorpio driver under Section 279/304(A) of IPC.

Facts/Trivia
- Her friends and fans affectionately call her “Nishu”.
- On May 30, 2023, she was performing a live performance in the village of Sendhuar in Chapra when an unidentified person fired a celebratory shot. One of the bullets hit her left thigh, after which she was admitted to Max Hospital in Patna. Her condition was later declared stable. She said in an interview that she felt pain in her thigh; however, when she saw blood, she realized she had been hit by a bullet.
