In February 2018, the Punjab National Bank (PNB) filed a complaint against his brother Nirav Modi, accusing him of defrauding the bank of around Rs 10 lakh. 11. 4 billion rupees. Nishal Modi, Ami Modi (Nirav Modi’s wife) and his uncle Mehul Choksi were also reportedly involved in the fraud. The bank also alleged that they were fraudulently involved in issuance of bank guarantees or letters of undertaking (LoU) at the bank’s medium corporate branch at Brady House, Mumbai. The Law Enforcement Directorate is handling the case.
