Over 200 passengers on the Cunard Line ship were ill after an epidemic of norovirus.
Cunard Line -a Queen Mary 2 departed from Southampton in England on March 8, before traveling to New York and Caribbean, as part of a journey that is not concluded until April 6, according to Cruisemapper.
According to the centers for the control and prevention of the disease (CDC), 224 of 2,538 passengers on board became ill, while 17 of the 1,232 crew members were also not good.
Norovirus is a “very contagious infection” that spreads with contaminated food and water, the Mayo Clinic states. CDC said that passengers and crews on the Cunard line ship suffered symptoms of infection such as diarrhea and vomiting.

In response to the epidemic, the CDC confirmed that the crew members on board “increased the cleaning and disinfection procedures according to their plan of preventing and reactions”.
They also “collected stool samples from the cases of gastrointestinal diseases for testing,” at the same time, isolating sick passengers and crews.
Members of the ship crews consulted with the Sanitation of vessel (VSP) in connection with the procedures of cleaning of sanitary protection and reported sick cases, CDC states.

“We had a small number of guests on the Queen Mary 2 ship who reported the symptoms of a gastrointestinal disease,” Cuard spokesman for USA Today said in a statement. “We continue to closely monitor guests and, as a precautionary measure, have completed a comprehensive deep cleaning of the ship and immediately activated our improved health and safety protocols, which are shown effective.”
The report comes after CDC 31. March of March that 12 of 461 passengers at Seabourn Cruise’s Line ship Seaabourn became ill for the Norovirus epidemic. Among the crew members, 22 of 405 were also well.
The ship, which began sailing on March 16, should be concluded on April 9th.
