North Korea denies the weapons used by Hamas
North Korea denied on Friday that Hamas used its weapons in the attack on Israel, saying the accusation made in some media reports was an attempt by Washington to shift responsibility for the crisis from itself to a third country. According to a report this week by Radio Free Asia, citing military experts, Hamas militants may be using North Korean weapons. A video by Palestinian fighters was said to reveal what appeared to be a rocket launcher that was likely from the north. On Friday, North Korea’s official news agency, KCNA, called rumors that Hamas militants possessed the country’s weapons “baseless and false rumours.”
“US administration reptilian press outlets and quasi-experts are spreading baseless and false claims that ‘North Korean weapons’ appear to have been used to attack Israel,” according to Reuters. Such claims, according to the news channel, were “an attempt to shift the blame” to what is called the “evil empire”. “It is nothing more than an attempt to shift the blame for the Middle East crisis caused by his misguided imperialist policies to a third country and thus avoid international criticism focused on the evil empire.”
John Kirby, a spokesman for the US National Security Council, said Thursday that he could not confirm the allegations about the origin of the rockets being used by Hamas. The conflict between Israel and Hamas will have no impact on United States security policy elsewhere in the world, especially on the Korean Peninsula, Kirby continued.
