North Wales Police confirmed they located the vehicle the young men were riding in during a search in the Porthmadog area – but there was no sign of the teenager.

For the past hour, a forensic van has been seen on the road where the car was found.

The four friends, who had traveled from the Welsh coastal areas of Harlech and Porthmadog, are believed to have been heading to Eryri National Park in Snowdonia.

The group was supposed to return on Monday morning, but none of them have made contact with their relatives and all their phones have been switched off.

The teenagers are not experienced campers and only had basic equipment with them such as tents and sleeping bags.

Officers said emergency services are still on the scene as the investigation continues.

Crystal Owen, Harvey’s mother, said she didn’t know they were going camping and thought they were staying at a friend’s grandfather’s house.

“I’m frantically worried, we haven’t slept a second, we’re desperately trying to find any trace,” she told the BBC.

“If I had known (where he was going) I would not have let him go because of the winter weather conditions.

“They’re all sensitive, intelligent guys and we just hope they parked, got lost and are OK.”

Crystal also stated that she was on her way to North Wales to be closer to the search operation.

Meanwhile, the mother of one of the boy’s girlfriends wrote on the social media platform: “My daughter’s boyfriend is the first boyfriend.

“They are missing Snowdonia after they went camping yesterday and were due to return home this morning but have not been seen or heard from since.

“Please share with as many as possible so we can try to get them home safely, thank you.”

Another wrote: “Please keep sharing… if anyone knows anything or can think of anything that could help find the boy please contact the police.

“We are desperate for any news.”

Officers and rescue teams are searching a huge area of the country which has been hampered by the dangerous mountain landscape around Snowdonia.

Mountain rescuers said they had been searching car parks in an attempt to find the silver motorbike the boys were believed to have been traveling on.

Chris Lloyd, president of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team, said teams spent Sunday searching for the vehicle after police requested support in the search.

Mr Lloyd said: “North Wales Police called us early yesterday afternoon.

“Our first order of business was to look for any indication that they were on the mountain.

“We’ve sent two or three teams out to drive around all the parking lots. We can’t find the car. We’re still actively looking for it and we’re continuing to look. We don’t have a specific area to look for.”

The boys from Shrewsbury are believed to have traveled to the Harlech and Porthmadog areas of Gwynedd near Snowdonia, now known as Eryri.

But coastguard helicopters were also searching Glaslyn Nature Reserve almost 50 miles away.

North Wales Police said in a statement: “Police are concerned about four young men missing from the Harlech/Porthmadog area since the morning of 19/11/23.

“The names of the four men are Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson and Hugo Morris.

“They were traveling in a silver Ford Fiesta with registration HY14 GVO.

“Any sightings please contact North Wales Police quoting reference number A184194.”
