‘Not impressed’, shopper fumes after spotting ‘silly’ oversight after 10pm in her local Tesco

A TESCO customer was left fuming after spotting a “stupid” omission while shopping at her local store.

A customer noticed that there were no official tills after 10pm – he took to social media to vent.

Disgruntled customer Naomi Ferguson said she was in the store late at night to make a “big purchase” but was stunned to find there were no staff to help her scan and bag her items at the checkout line with people.

Calling out the supermarket on X (formerly Twitter), she said: “Why do none of your stores have tills after 10pm anymore?

“I went to a big store and had to scan a £100 store by myself without help.

“After playing ‘avoid the retocking cages’ in the passages, it wasn’t the experience I expected. I wasn’t overly impressed.”

Tesco has confirmed that cash registers with people will remain in all stores.

But Naomi was still angry – saying it made her shopping process longer.

She said: “To not have a single member of staff to jump to the till seems quite silly.

“There were a few people doing big trades late at night while we were in the shop and it just lengthens the process.”

Tesco is not the only supermarket chain to hit the headlines recently.

Asda recently shut down several in-store pharmacies for customers to stock up on essential medical supplies due to “low customer usage”.

And Poundland has started to compete with Iceland in the frozen food department, after announcing the new introduction of frozen sections in more than 60 stores.
