Now You See Me 3: Everything to Know About the Franchise's Highly-Anticipated Third Installment

The Four Horsemen prepare their third act with the long-awaited Now you see me 3.

The first film premiered in 2013 and won over the audience with its story and great twists. Following a group of illusionists called the Four Horsemen, the group uses their magic tricks to stage a series of heists to right some wrongs.

A follow-up film was released three years later in 2016, following the Four Horsemen after they are exposed by their enemy and discover the true secrets behind a secret society called the Eye, made up of the most skilled magicians.

The third film in the heist thriller franchise was first announced in 2015, with filming wrapping up in November 2024.

“It’s amazing. The cast is amazing. The story is so fun and complicated in a really fun puzzle way. It’s just a joy to be in these movies,” said Jesse Eisenberg, who plays J. Daniel Atlas. Party tonight.

Fisher did not reprise her original role in the 2016 sequel; instead, Lizzy Caplan’s character joined the Four Horsemen in her place. Mean girls alum Caplan will also reprise her role as Lula May in the third film.

According to IMDB, Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman are set to reprise their characters in the film. It is unclear whether Jay Chou, who appeared in the second film, will return. Chou was previously attached to a spinoff film announced in 2016, which was said to be shot in China. However, there was no further development of the project.

Originally, the film was to be directed by Jon M. Chu, who directed the second film. However, in 2022 he was replaced by Ruben Fleischer. The director is no stranger to working with Eisenberg and Harrelson, who were previously at the helm Zombieland and Zombieland: Double Tapwhich also starred Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

Lionsgate has not confirmed an official plot for Now you see me 3. Since the second film ended with a big reveal about the leader of the Eye, it’s possible that the film could continue after that and show how the Four Horsemen coped with their new roles in the secret society.

While talking to collider in March 2024, Eisenberg noted that the script was complete and predicted that filming would begin in “the next six months.” Eventually, things moved quickly and the cast wrapped up filming Now you see me 3 in November 2024, on Instagram.
