When Wyatt Lewis was six years old, his life was turned upside down. His parents, David and Michelle Lewis, were arrested and convicted in 2010 of murdering Wyatt’s aunt, Debra Kelly. Because of this, they were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
As a result, Wyatt and his younger sister were separated and placed in foster care. While he was in care, the foster family abused and neglected him. He admitted to feeling isolated and desperate, claiming that there was no one he could count on or who could give him hope. Wyatt’s life took an unexpected turn when he was just six years old.
It all started in 2010 when his parents David and Michelle Lewis were caught and later convicted of murdering her aunt Debra Kelly. Due to the seriousness of the crime, they were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. His life changed drastically because of his parents’ imprisonment.
When he and his younger sister were placed in a foster family, they were separated. Unfortunately, his parenting experiences were not pleasant. Instead of finding peace and comfort, the children were exposed to cruelty and neglect in their chosen foster families.
Wyatt’s emotional well-being was damaged by his challenges during this period. He admits to feeling deeply lonely without any meaningful connections or sources of hope. The feeling of isolation and abandonment further worsened his already difficult circumstances, driving him to despair.
It is important to recognize the tremendous adversity Wyatt faced at such a young age. The upheaval caused by the arrest and conviction of his parents, as well as the isolation and abuse in his foster family, undoubtedly had a profound and long-lasting impact on his life.
