Olivia Rodrigo Responds to Fan Whose Tattoo Typo Went Viral: 'This Is the New Lyric'

Olivia Rodrigo is trying to help a fan feel better about his tattoo accident!

On May 7, the 21-year-old singer left a comment under fan Grace Flemming’s TikTok video after Flemming revealed that she wanted a tattoo of Rodrigo’s “Hope Ur Ok” lyrics, “address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings,” on her wrist, but later discovered that it said “butterfly wings” instead of “butterfly wings”.

“HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH OMG THIS IS A NEW STACK, I’M CHANGING IT TO BUTTERWINGS,” commented Rodrigo.

Speaking about the song “Driver’s license”, the singer’s comment for TodayFlemming, 20, said she couldn’t believe Rodrigo had seen her video and responded, adding that she was now unsure whether to accept the tattoo artist’s offer to correct the mistake.

“Not changing it definitely makes it more unique and special. I kind of want to keep it, but I also want to get the lyrics right,” she said. “Maybe I’ll keep this one and take this one Law texts elsewhere.”

Speaking about what the song meant to her, the Colorado native, who got the tattoo in April, continued: “Everybody has their wounds or holes already. So I take (the line), ‘Address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings,’ (to say) if someone is going to say something mean, they can say it to me. But it will just pass through me. It will go through that hole.”

Meanwhile, Flemming told PEOPLE earlier this month that her boyfriend alerted her to Tipfeller’s mistake after she sent him the inked picture.

“Did you take the fly out?” he said via text message in response to the picture.

“I was so shocked!” says Flemming told PEOPLE. “How did I not notice that?”

Despite the mistake, the music fan revealed she was full of humor when looking back on the moment, explaining that she laughed about it with friends and family.

“The laughter and smiles they gave were priceless,” she recalled.

“I’ve been a fan of Olivia since 2015! I loved American Girl dolls and Olivia starred in an American Girl doll movie about a doll named Grace. And I’ve followed her on her journey ever since,” she said.

“She’s such an inspiration to me and I admire her so much. I hope one day she sees this tattoo and laughs at it,” Flemming told PEOPLE at the time.
