Om Prakash was a famous Indian supporting actor of the 19th century. He is known for his cameos in films such as Dil Daulat Duniya (1972), Gopi (1970), Apna Desh (1972), Chupke Chupke (1975), Julie (1975), Joroo Ka Ghulam (1972), Aa Gale Lag, etc. Jaa (1973), Pyar Kiye Jaa (1966), Padosan (1968) and Buddha Mil Gaya (1971).

Om Prakash was born on December 19, 1919 in Jammu, India (Jammu, died at the age of 78). His zodiac sign is Sagittarius and Om Prakash Chibber is his birth name. Om Prakash joined All India Radio in 1937 with a monthly salary of Rs. His radio programs were popular in Punjab and he was mainly known as “Fateh Din”. Om Prakash is also a member of the famous Dewan Mandir Natak Samaj in which he plays the role of Kamla.

Om Prakash made his film debut while entertaining guests at a wedding and caught the attention of noted filmmaker Dalsukh M. Pancholi. He was urged to the Dalsukh Pancholi office in Lahore where he was offered a role in the film Daasi. He was only paid Rs 80 Cr for his participation in the film, but the recognition he received would be a lifetime achievement.

From the 1950s to the 1980s, he was recognized as the best supporting actor in movies. Om Prakash has appeared in many Hindi films and is known for his comedy performances. He is highly recognized for his outstanding performances in films like “Sharaabi”, “Bharosa”, “Tere Ghar Ke Samne”, “Mere Hamdam Mere Dost”, “Loafer” and “Dil Tera Diwana”.

After the partition of India, Om Prakash came to Delhi and then to Bombay (now Mumbai), where his versatile performances were recognized by film journalist and critic Baldev Raj Chope La’s observation. He later suggested that he start his acting career. Although Om Prakash went through a major struggle, he played a villain for the first time in the film Lakhpati. His role as a villain was well-received and he was given the opportunity to star in films such as Lahore (1949), Chadin (1949) and Rat Ki Rani (1949).

Om Prakash died at the age of 78 after suffering a massive heart attack at home. He was then taken to Lilavati Hospital where he suffered another heart attack, causing him to fall into coma from which he never recovered. He died on February 21, 1998.
