The money comes via the £842 million Household Support Fund (HSF).

Municipalities in England received part of the fund and distribute it to residents in need.

This means that what you’re entitled to depends on where you live, but in most cases you’ll get help if you’re on a low income or benefits.

City of York Council is one of them and is paying out £185 next month as part of the HSF.

An e-mail was sent to residents the municipality thought might be eligible in late April.

These people are able-bodied households that receive municipal tax support.

These people and families would receive one shipment of £185 and expect another lump sum into their bank account next month.

However, people who are struggling and have missed out on the money can apply for another grant until March 31 next year.

However, there are conditions – families must be in need of “urgent financial assistance and do not have sufficient income or savings to cover the reasonable expenses that the program can help with.”

It comes after thousands of households in Leeds were told they could get £100 in free cash payments for living expenses.

Just a few days ago it was also revealed that millions of households will start receiving a £300 tax-free payment within days.

The government pays living expenses for Britons based on certain benefits, including universal credit.

Those who qualify won’t have to do anything as it will automatically land on accounts between October 31st and November 19th.

Tax-free cash will appear on bank statements as your National Insurance number followed by DWP COL or HMRC COLS.

Households with tax relief who are eligible for the payment will receive it from HMRC instead of the DWP between 10 and 19 November.
