Oprah Winfrey Wears Power Pantsuit to Color Purple Screening as She Continues Her Fashion Hot Streak

No one looks more powerful in a pantsuit than Oprah Winfrey.

On Wednesday, the media mogul wore a matching purple suit with trousers from Stella McCartney’s Summer 2024 collection to a screening of the film Purple at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC Winfrey, 69, made a splash on the (purple) carpet — posing alongside poet and museum director Kevin Young — in a gorgeous ensemble that included a custom recycled Lurex metallic brocade vest, matching jacket and pants wide leg paisley pattern that mixed purples and pinks to — literally — dazzling effect.

Purple the producer pulled her hair into soft curls and pulled the top part into a high ponytail, while the rest fell gently around her shoulders. She completed her look with a pair of wire-rimmed glasses and plum-colored lenses.

On the eve of the upcoming musical adaptation Purple, which hits theaters on Christmas Day, Winfrey has embraced purple in all its shades. The actress, who starred in the 1985 film, wore everything from an elegant Dolce & Gabbana dress in soft purple to a lilac Dries Van Noten pantsuit as she hit the red carpet to promote the film.

Along the way, Winfrey explained why Purple remains a major cornerstone in her incredible career. In this week’s PEOPLE cover story, she opened up about how producing the musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s seminal 1982 novel made her reflect on her journey to Hollywood.

Winfrey said in an interview that starring in the Oscar-nominated film “changed everything” for her. “It was a spiritual opening for me to see my life in a different way,” she explained.

Winfrey added that she sees her success as a tool to help others along the way. “I’m still continuing to ascend and now I’m in a space where my offering is to help other people ascend,” she said. “The principle that is the foundation, the cornerstone for my work in the world… Life is better when you share it.”
