Oscar Winners Michelle Yeoh and Gwyneth Paltrow Cozy Up at The Brothers Sun Premiere

Michelle Yeoh and Gwyneth Paltrow are all smiles!

The two Oscar winners stepped out Thursday night to attend the Netflix premiere in Los Angeles Sun brothers at the Netflix Tudum Theater. For the event, Yeoh, 61, wore a chic tiger print raincoat with boots. Her hair was pulled back into a low ponytail with strands of bangs falling down her face.

Paltrow, 51, stood by, smiling Everything everywhere and at once actress while wearing a bright red long-sleeved dress – which featured a plunging neckline and a narrow belt at the waist.

Yeoh stars as Mama Sun in the new action comedy. Paltrow is married to the co-creator of the Netflix series, Brad Falchuk.

The synopsis for the Netflix series reads: “When a mysterious enemy attacks his family, a triad member from Taipei heads to Los Angeles to protect his strong-willed mother and oblivious younger brother.”

Ahead of the project’s release, Yeoh spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about what she hopes audiences will be able to take away Sun brothers.

“Oh, I hope they learned that behind this facade that I’m so nice, I’m quite mean,” said the Oscar winner, whose character can be described as the wife of a Taiwanese gangster, in this week’s issue.

The actress then talked about how this role is different from the previous ones.

“I wasn’t into a contemporary action comedy based on the gangster world,” explained Yeoh. “To be able to bring East to West in a big explosion of arms and legs was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Mama Sun has now moved to the United States with one of her sons, Bruce Sun (Sam Song Li), where they live a normal life – until her past catches up with her.

Yeoh also recalled how she was able to get her fellow cast members to bring their A-game early on.

“On the first night with all the young cast, we went around the table to introduce ourselves and talk about what we hope to take away from this experience. When it occurred to me, I said, ‘Just don’t waste my time or I’ll screw you up. Alright?’ And everyone gave their 110 percent from day one,” she joked.

Just before the release of her latest project, Yeoh landed an even bigger role — a grandmother!

On New Year’s Day, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon talent shared the post on her Instagram account.

She and her husband Jean Todt became grandparents when Todt’s son Nicolas had his first baby.

“A little miracle on the first day of 2024 ❤️✨ we are so blessed indeed… I can’t tell you how happy I am for this very special bundle of joy ❤️✨,” she captioned the first photo, which only showed a newborn leg in her hand.
