Outer Banks Star Austin North Arrested After Alleged Attack on Las Vegas Hospital Employees

Austin North is speaking out after being arrested for allegedly assaulting hospital employees in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, Foreign banks star, 27, was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting several emergency room staff at University Medical Center Hospital. Officers were dispatched to the scene on Tuesday to speak with the alleged victims following reports of an assault and battery.

In a statement on his Instagram Story on Thursday, North addressed the incident, saying: “I am deeply disturbed by the events that took place in Las Vegas last week. A friend took me to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack. Several tests were taken, including blood, which came back negative for any drugs or alcohol in my system. I had a severe anxiety attack.”

“I have very little recollection of the events of that day in the hospital. I have the utmost respect for health workers and hospital staff,” he continued. “I’ve struggled with anxiety for years, and this was the most extreme panic attack I’ve ever had. In the future, I hope to shed light on this debilitating disorder and send hope to those who have also struggled.”

According to a police report, North allegedly assaulted several nurses and a phlebotomist after entering the emergency room on Tuesday.

Police reported that the actor allegedly punched a nurse in the head and shoved another in the face before pushing the phlebotomist into a table. The phlebotomist then allegedly used a tray nearby and hit him in the head as an act of self-defense.

Hospital security eventually restrained North and handcuffed him to a gurney, but not before he allegedly assaulted another victim, whose function at the medical center was unclear, according to the report.

When the police arrived, A beautiful disaster star was reportedly read his Miranda rights, and North confirmed that he understood he was being arrested for the violation. The actor was then detained and reported for gross misdemeanor. He was later released on bail.

PEOPLE reached out to Las Vegas police for confirmation, but did not immediately hear back.

Before the alleged incident, North was in Las Vegas for Sunday’s Super Bowl.

In a video montage shared on Instagram, the Netflix star documented his time in Sin City, which included driving cars on the racetrack, making various red carpet appearances and partying at clubs after football festivities.

“So grateful for an amazing Super Bowl experience,” he captioned the post before “shouting out” to his other sponsors and thanking them for “going above and beyond.”

North is best known for his role as Topper on Netflix Foreign banks. Before playing the ex-boyfriend of rival group Kook’s Sarah Cameron in the show, North was a Disney Channel star. One of his first acting roles was in a Disney XD series Kickin’ It in 2011, but he is best known for his role as Logan Watson in the Disney Channel series I didn’t do that.
