Outlander Season 7 Episode 6 Recap, Ending Explained, Cast, Trailer, And More

In “Outlander,” Season 7, Episode 6, Jamie and Claire help civilians escape British-occupied Ticonderoga, while a new historical figure is introduced and a character returns from season five.

Outlander season 7 episode 6 ending explanation

In the episode “Where the Waters Meet”, the story develops as Jemmy mentions encounters with Nuckelavee, a mythical horse-like demon from Orcadian folklore.

Roger becomes suspicious of someone posing as Nuckelavee near Lallybroch. After the lecture, Roger spots the man and gives chase, only to discover that the person pretending to be Nuckelavee is none other than William “Buck” Buccleigh MacKenzie, the illegitimate son of Dougal MacKenzie and time traveler Geillis Duncan.

Buck is actually a distant ancestor of Roger’s and lives in Lallybroch after traveling from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. This meeting is not the first between Roger and Buck. In the previous episode, after Roger traveled back in time for Brianna, he met Morag MacKenzie, Buck’s wife, whom he embraces as his great-great-grandmother.

This action infuriates Buck, leading to a violent altercation in which Buck beats and hangs Roger, leaving him traumatized. In the upcoming episodes, Roger may try to understand Buck’s motivations for time travel, hoping it’s not just to scare his children, Jemmy and Amanda. As for Jamie, during the Revolutionary War he initially decides to fight for the rebels after learning about American history from Claire and Brianna.

However, he later reconsiders, realizing that there is no clear right side to choose in this war. Jamie is reluctant to oppose his own son William and the Mohawks, who are relatives of his nephew Young Ian, or fight the rebels because their demands are just. This is why he plans to go to Scotland to avoid getting involved in the war.

However, circumstances force him to join the Militia and fight for the rebels. Despite his enlistment period ending when the rebels fled Fort Ticonderoga, Jamie decides to remain in the militia after speaking with Daniel Morgan, who leads a group of sharpshooters. He understands that the people around him need his help, realizing that any war that causes suffering to his fellow men is his war.

He cannot abandon those whose lives hang in the balance because of war. After learning of the British Army’s extensive plans against the Continental Army, Jamie realizes that he can’t just walk away from his group, even if it means facing his son on the battlefield. He realizes that the war is beyond him and his son, which convinces him to continue fighting alongside Morgan and the militia, after the initial recruiting period.

In the fortress, Claire meets Walter, a fellow prisoner suffering from an embolism. She asks for help from William for medicine and bandages to help her prisoners.

Meanwhile, Roger MacKenzie takes on the role of teacher at his son Jemmy’s school, aiming to teach Gaelic. In an unfortunate turn of events, he accidentally passes his diary, which contains personal information.

The diary is discovered and read by Brianna’s colleague, Rob Cameron, who uses this newfound knowledge to manipulate Roger. Rob Cameron introduces himself to Roger and forces him to invite him to dinner with the MacKenzies, setting the stage for potential conflict and tension between the characters. As the story unfolds, the characters’ paths intertwine, leading to further twists and revelations.
