The announcement followed weeks of intense speculation and conspiracy theories on social media about Kate’s whereabouts and health.
Now, the hordes of celebrities and internet trolls who have been spreading bizarre speculation about Kate’s whereabouts have rushed to apologize.
Owen Jones, a left-wing activist and journalist, wrote on X: “As someone who speculated on this without thinking it could be a serious medical condition, I’m very ashamed to be honest, and all the best to her.”
Actress Blake Lively also apologized after mocking Kate’s edited Mother’s Day photo.
“I’m sure nobody cares today, but I feel like I have to admit it,” she wrote on her Instagram profile.
“I wrote a stupid post about the ‘Photoshop fails’ insanity, and man did that post horrify me today.
“I’m sorry. Sending love and well wishes to everyone, always.”
Fans told the 36-year-old, who is married to Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds, that she should be “ashamed of herself”.
Meanwhile, reality star and Atomic Kitten Kerry Katona said she would “keep her hands up” and lamented the spread of conspiracy theories.
She told The Sun: “There have been so many conspiracy theories. I’ll put my hands up.
The Sun’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards reacts to Kate’s cancer diagnosis
“I think I was one of them, as if the royal family was our family.
“We all think we know them and I understand that better than anyone.
“Everyone thinks they know who you are as a real person, and I just feel like we’ve all gone down this rabbit hole and I’m being dragged down.
“I’m no better than the next person. You pick up a magazine. I read about somebody and I’m like, ‘I can’t believe this happened to them.’
“Then I read something about myself and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s a load of shit,’ so I realized how we’re all drawn to it.
“I don’t know, it feels weird. It feels wrong to be here. I don’t know why.”
Celebrities who crawl and spew Kate’s dastardly plots are disgraceful bullies, says royal expert
VILE celebs who spread conspiracies about Princess Kate’s health should be “ashamed of themselves”.
Hugo Vickers, a royal historian, told The Sun: “Conspiracy theorists have been very busy in the last few days.
“That says a lot about the mindset of these people. The high-profile ones, but also the very irresponsible members of the general public who also got involved in some way.
“It was extremely unattractive because we all love the Princess of Wales and she did a fantastic job.
“She’s really been flawless in everything she’s done since marrying Prince William.”
The expert added that all the vile trolling and ‘catespiration’ would “make things much more difficult” than they already are.
“I think they should be very ashamed of themselves,” he added.
“I think a lot of people came forward and spoke out, and rightfully so.
“This is not something that should be joked about or tied to various absurd theories.”
“You’re always going to have conspiracy theories because if you’re a conspiracy theorist, that’s what you do,” Mr Vickers continued.
“There will always be people coming up with theories and they will always do it in such a way that you cannot stop.
“I think anyone who comes up with some nonsensical princess theory would get very short shrift.
“And so I imagine they’re going to go down to earth to be quite honest, because in a sense they’re bullies. They push it all the time.
“And as someone well said years ago, inside every bully there’s a coward trying desperately to stay.”
Royal expert Hugo Vickers has slammed celebrities who have floated conspiracies about Princess Kate’s health.

Piers Morgan has hit out at those spreading conspiracy theories about Kate’s well-being.
He tweeted: “People here are shouting ‘LEAVE KATE ALONE!’ when they’ve spent the past few weeks spewing insane conspiracy theories about her it’s beyond parody.
– Shut up, shameless hypocrites.
Fans also called for Kim Kardashian to apologize for her “I’m on my way to find Kate” Instagram post.
The reality star shared a series of snaps on Instagram, but fans were quick to spot the gratuitous and ill-advised reference to the royal family.
Underneath the glamorous photos, she said: “I’m on my way to find Kate.”
Furious followers flooded the comments section, with one writing “You should take this down!”

Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told Sky News: “I hope those social media trolls who are spreading such lurid theories realize what they have done.
– Her absolute priority will be the three children.
Jennie, 73, added: “How brave to make a video message like that.
“She didn’t have to, but she did in part, I think, because of all the ridiculous, absurd theories floating around the internet.”
Internet rumors about Kate intensified after William missed the funeral mass for his godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece on February 27 at very short notice.
It is now understood that the prince’s decision not to attend was linked to his wife’s condition, but it is not known when the princess found out about the positive cancer test.
Further speculation was sparked after the princess admitted she had “edited” her official Mother’s Day photo which had irregularities.
Further developments led to an investigation by Britain’s privacy watchdog, the Information Commissioner’s Office, into allegations that there were attempts to access Kate’s private medical records at the London clinic where she was undergoing surgery.
Her diagnosis is the second cancer shock to hit the royal family in as many months after King Charles revealed he was also undergoing treatment.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement that the king was “so proud” of Kate for “speaking the way she did” and that she is in “closest contact with her beloved daughter-in-law”.
Kate said the family now needs “time, space and privacy” while she completes treatment.
Speaking in a video message recorded in Windsor on Wednesday, Kate said: “I had major abdominal surgery in London in January and at the time my condition was thought to be non-cancerous.
Gary Goldsmith DIDN’T KNOW about niece Kate’s cancer when he entered the CBB house
PRINCESS Kate’s uncle Gary Goldsmith was unaware of his niece’s cancer when he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house.
The former businessman, 58, was the first to be axed from the ITV show which first aired at the start of March, after Kate received the devastating news that post-operative tests had revealed cancer.
Gary regularly discussed Kate on the show but refused to give details – even cheekily saying: “If it’s published I’ll give you my opinion.”
Hours after Kate shared her devastating news in a video message, her uncle appeared on the set of the glossy magazine where he spilled details about Prince William, Kate and the King.
Gary addressed X last night, saying the article “was finished over a week ago and went to press before I learned the sad news about my niece Kate”.
Gary wrote: “As many have seen, I was featured in Saturday’s Times Magazine.
“This interview and filming took place over a week ago and went to press before I learned the sad news about my niece Kate.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Kate and the wider family at this difficult time and I am deeply distressed as I write this article.
“I hope this draws a line on the continued speculation and horrible conspiracies.
“Let’s give Kate, William and the kids time and give some love back.”
“The operation was successful. However, tests after the operation showed that cancer was present.
“My medical team has therefore advised me to undergo preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.
“This has of course come as a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and resolve this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.”
Kate, who was casually dressed and sitting on a bench in the video, added: “I needed time to recover from the major operation to start treatment.
“But most importantly, we needed time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was suitable for them and to reassure them that I would be fine.
“Like I told them; I’m fine and I’m getting stronger every day focusing on things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirit.”
