Pa. Man Visiting Girlfriend Is Shot After Alleged Dispute Over Parking: ‘Just Stupid,’ Neighbor Says

Authorities in Pennsylvania say a man was killed in an alleged dispute over a parking space earlier this week.

Pennsylvania State Police said the altercation happened Tuesday, June 18, on Madison Avenue in Export, according to CBS affiliate KDKA and ABC affiliate WTAE .

Daniel Chicka, 65, was visiting his girlfriend when he was shot and killed at the scene, KDKA and NBC affiliate WPXI reported.

Matt Miller (32) was taken into custody after the shooting.

Jail records show that he has been in custody since Wednesday, June 19. It is not clear whether he has retained a lawyer to comment on his behalf.

As of Tuesday evening, no charges have been filed in connection with this case, local media report.

State Trooper Steve Limani said authorities want to contact neighbors who may have information about the incident or doorbell camera footage, TribLive.com reported.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a dispute over a parking space. Chicka and Miller had reportedly been fighting over the venue for several months, according to WTAE.

“It’s a shame that a man was killed for nothing,” neighbor Greg Rager said, according to KDKA. “Just stupid.”

One neighbor told KDKA that Miller was territorial about space after he recently moved into a home on the street.

“I heard about it a few weeks or months ago, but I didn’t think it would get to this point where you’re going to kill somebody,” the neighbor told WPXI.

Chicka was a retired miner and scaffolder, according to WPXI. He also enjoyed motorcycles and remote control airplanes, according to KDKA.
