Paayal Kapoor Nair is an Indian television and film actress. She is best known for playing the eponymous character in DD National’s soap opera Meher (2004-2006). She is also known for starring in the TV series Do Saheliyaan…Kismat Ki Kathputaliyaan (2010), Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar (2005) and Chand Chupa Badal Mein (2010).

She attended Frank Antony Public School in New Delhi. Payal’s interest in theater and theater was recognized by her film-loving mother. She has participated in school plays since she was a child. She pursued BA in European History from the College of Jesus and Mary, New Delhi. During college, she served as president of the drama club. Later, she did a part-time course in mass communication from the YMCA, New Delhi. There, her journey as a professional theater artist began by attending theater workshops at the end of her part-time course. After completing a mass communication course, she worked for a while as a copywriter in an advertising agency. In late 1999, she moved to Mumbai to become an actress. In 2014, she studied theater and theater at the Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater. She received theater training from stalwarts like Amal Arana and Ranjit Kapoor.

Payal made his television debut in 1996 with the thriller drama Agwaah, co-starring Tom Alter and Vishal Thakkar. In 1998, she starred in two episodes of the police procedural drama “CID”, playing Cooper’s wife. In 2001, she played the role of Padma Raj Dev Singh in the police thriller drama “Dial 100” and in 2002 she appeared in Star Plus’ horror thriller “Ssshhhh…Koi Hai”. Her first TV show as a heroine was Sony’s Goonj Ateet Ki (2002), in which she played the role of a doctor named Revathi. In 2004, she became a household name after playing the eponymous character in DD National’s soap opera “Meher”. In the show, she also played the role of Shabana, Meher’s stand-in.

She played a negative role in Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar (2005). From 2005 to 2007, she appeared in the Star Plus soap opera Bhabhi, playing the roles of Manju Chatterjee (after plastic surgery), Meenakshi Chatterjee and Meenakshi Tilak Chopra.
