DJ was friends with the infamous pedophile Jimmy Savile, worked on Radio Caroline before a short magic on Radio 1 – and later claimed that they were “intrigued by the Jimmy Savile affair.”
Officers said he disappeared in December after he was last seen taking a water taxi to the pontoon in which his yacht was tied to Dartmouth, Devon.
The source said: “The next morning his ship is unlocked and his phone was inside.
“His torch was still found on the pontoon next to the boat.
“Something happened and he must have entered the water.”
The Coast Guard and Rnli searched the Dart River, but they did not find it.
Then on January 20, the body was found half a mile down the Dartmouth Castle, and the coroner later identified it as David Evans, 79.
His previous identity was not mentioned.
Willis, who used Steve Merika’s stage name in the 1970s, was caught with 500 paintings on his computer on his spring yacht Appalachian in Plymouth.
He was in prison for 18 months in 2020.
For a former lecturer and candidate for a parliamentary candidate at Loughborough, he moved to nearby Dartmouth and lived on a small cabin cruise yacht called High Cirrus.
At the opening of his investigation at Exeter on Wednesday, it was heard that a retired lecturer in college was also divorced.
The Devon Alison Longhorn area was said: “The circumstances are that David was staying on a ship that was tied to Dart River.
“It was announced that he disappeared to the police because they had not seen him for several days.
“A few weeks later, the body was further down the river and was not confirmed as David Evans.
“There are no suspicious circumstances. The medical cause of death is rude.”
The sun was approaching her ex -wife Julia at her home in Loughborough for comment.
Her new husband answered the news that Willis had died, saying, “Good.”
He added that Julia had no contact with him “many, many years.”
Willis was the head of the Pop Quest TV show and interviewed the stars like T-Rex’s Marc Bolan.
He also worked in Radio Trent in the 1980s, led the stations in Australia and taught on the radio and in the media.
Willis also taught for 15 years at New College Nottingham and Nottingham Trent, as well as a governor in many schools in Midlands.
He had previously received a suspended nine -month prison candidate at Leicester Crown Court 2015 after admitting nine dots of taking over the rude images and films of children between 2006 and 2013.
When he was first caught, he told the police in an interview that he was intrigued by the Savila case – and he wanted to convey his findings to a sociologist.
After his first belief, he moved from Loughborough -Au Plymouth, where he lived in his Appalachian Spring ship to Plymouth Yacht Haven.
His yacht was carried out in August 2017.
The 74-year-old denied the possession of 238 categories of children on his computers-saying that they were adults who were sexually abused. He also denied that he had 226 pictures of category B.
Willis declared himself guilty of only 10 paintings in the least heavy category C, on a memory stick.
However, a jury in a court in Plymouth Crown rejected his claims and proclaimed him to be guilty of unanimous judgments after a two -day trial.
Savile was masked as one of the worst British pedophiles after his death in 2011.
