Paris Jackson Defends Her Armpit Hair from Social Media Trolls: ‘Get Over Yourselves’

Paris Jackson disagrees with internet trolls who don’t like her armpit hair.

The singer and daughter of the late Michael Jackson took to Instagram on Tuesday to mark the King of Pop’s 65th birthday.

From what appeared to be a dressing room after she came off stage, Paris, 25, says in the video that her father didn’t like it when people celebrated his birthday during his lifetime. As she explained this, Paris raised her hands and tied her hair.

The gesture apparently prompted some people to comment on her armpit hair, which then prompted Paris to hit back at critics Twitter.

“I didn’t tie my hair up to show off my armpit hair,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “I haven’t shaved it in years and I forgot it was there all along. get over yourself.”

She concluded her tweet by saying, “Put my hair up to show off my glass cutting jaw.”

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Paris said Michael doesn’t want people to know when his birthday is so they don’t throw him a party.

“There have been times when I don’t post anything on my dad’s birthday,” she says, “and people lose their fucking minds. They told me to kill myself. They actually measure my love for my own father based on what I post on Instagram.”

The Instagram clip then goes to a shot of Paris addressing the crowd on stage at the Las Colonias Park Amphitheater in Colorado and greeting her father on his birthday.

“He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears, love and passion into doing what he did so that I can stand here on the stage in front of you and scream into the microphone,” he is seen telling the crowd.

As the scene cuts back to her dressing room, Paris encourages her Instagram followers to get involved in issues like climate change, the environment and animal rights, saying: “It was stuff [Michael] loved and was very interested.”

Paris’ Instagram post comes as her sibling Bigi Jackson (formerly Blanket) and Prince Jackson made a rare appearance in Las Vegas to remember Michael, also on Tuesday. The two were seen at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino where Cirque du Soleil is Michael Jackson: ONE the play was played.

Earlier this year, Paris unveiled her then-latest track, “Bandaid,” which she described to PEOPLE as having a harder sound than her previous singles. “I used the same one [sound] mixer, so there’s definitely a cohesion with the first two singles, but this one is a bit more influenced by bands like Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Interpol,” she said at the time. “It’s a bit louder, it’s more fun. But in terms of the songwriting aspect, it’s still the same acoustic folk approach that I always take when I write.”
