When they discovered a dog tied to a fence last week, staff at RSCA Woodside Animal Center in Wales, England, were horrified. He didn’t know how long she had been there and seemed to be anxiously waiting for someone to spot her.

A spokesperson for the shelter told The Dodo in a press release:
She stood with her head behind the bars of the door, her ears perched back, her eyes big and brown like a happy dog.
Dog tied up at the shelter door waiting for someone to notice This adorable puppy, now known as Misty, arrived in horrible shape, with exposed ribs and skin wounds. The shelter staff were pleased to hear that she was now safe as she had several scratches near her nose that indicated she had struggled.
Μisty had a microchip that the team discovered, but it took a while for communications to stop working.
It’s hard to resist wondering what could happen to the dog if he was left alone while waiting at the shelter.
A spokesperson for the shelter continued:
