Patrick Mahomes Says He’s Not Sure If Travis Kelce Will Return to Chiefs Next Season After 2025 Super Bowl Loss

Patrick Mahomes is not sure if Travis Kelce will return to the mayors next season.

After a disappointing defeat to Philadelphia Eagles in 2025, Super Bowl, Mahomes, 29, asked if he would talk to Kelce, 35, whether he would withdraw from football or return to the second season at NFL.

In an interview with journalists after losing 40-22, Mahomes said he would “let Travis make that decision” after he deserves a well-deserved vacation after a long season.

“He gave so much to this team and NFL,” Mahomes said of the tight end of the superstar. “And it was such joy, not only for me to work, but also for people who can watch.”

He continued his shock, “and he knows that he still had a lot of football,” stating that fans “can see him” because Kelce “always plays in the biggest moments.”

But whether Kelce will return to NFL will depend on “if he wants to put in that grind” to dedicate the time and energy needed to play football, Mahomes explained.

If Kelce hung his wrists, Mahomes said his friend and teammate were already a lock as a “guy with gold jackets” and “The first voting hall of the famous” with three wins in Super Bowl. “But I know he still has love for the game,” Mahomes continued, “and he will have to spend some time with his family and make that decision alone.”
