Patrick Stewart Didn’t Think Tom Hardy Would Go Anywhere After Star Trek: Nemesis: ‘Proven Me So Wrong’

Patrick Stewart says he’s happy to see Tom Hardy’s career progress.

On Tuesday, Insider reported that Stewart, 83, wrote in his new memoir: By doing so, that he wasn’t impressed with Hardy, 46, when they worked together on the 2002 film. Star Trek: Nemesis.

Stewart described the film itself, which came more than a decade after he began acting in the feature film Star Trek the character of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, as “particularly weak”.

Then he discovered Hardy, who made his film debut Fall of black Hawk a year before, he never developed a significant relationship on set.

“I didn’t have any exciting scenes to play, and the actor who played the film’s villain, Shinzon, was a strange, lonely young man from London,” Stewart wrote in the book, according to the publication. “His name was Tom Hardy.”

He continued: “Tom wouldn’t hang out with any of us on a social level. He never said ‘Good morning,’ he never said ‘Good night,’ and he spent the hours he shouldn’t have been on set in his trailer with his girlfriend. ”

A representative for Hardy did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
