Peloton’s Leanne Hainsby Admits She’s Not Yet Ready to Start Wedding Planning After Cancer Treatment

Leanne Hainsby isn’t quite at the planning stage for her wedding to Ben Alldis – for good reason.

In an interview with women’s health, the Peloton instructor revealed that even though she is cancer-free, she wants to be able to “trust my body” before embarking on planning the couple’s big day.

“One thing comes first – before Ben and I start planning the wedding, first of all [else] happens — I want to believe to the bottom of my core that I can trust my body again,” she told the newspaper portal. “That’s my main goal — just say it and believe it.”

Hainsby announced she had breast cancer in January after being officially diagnosed in August 2022.

The fitness star began 12 weeks of chemotherapy last fall and has continued to do three to four hours of Peloton a week – without revealing her diagnosis to her followers and riders.

“I didn’t want to just feel like a cancer patient all the time, like I felt most of the time,” she explained to Women’s health.

In early April, Hainsby got a clean bill of health at her three-month check-up.

Although she may be cancer-free, Hainsby told the newspaper: “There is now a part of the road that is [dealing with] the mental toll of a cancer diagnosis.”

When COVID-19 hit in 2020, fans noticed that Alldis and Hainsby were filming their cycling lessons remotely from the same background. A month later – in April 2020 – the couple went public with their relationship.

“We wanted to stand on our own feet in our relationship before we started letting the public know about it,” Alldis told PEOPLE in an interview in July. By August 2021, the couple was engaged.

The fitness power couple previously told PEOPLE that they want to tie the knot by the end of 2024.

“At the moment we’re taking this year slowly and seeing how it all goes, just trying to make Leanne feel more like herself,” Alldis said of Hainsby, 35.

When a couple gets married, the celebration will be very different from the one where their previous romance began. Alldis recalled that he and Hainsby — who both joined the Peloton in 2018 — were friends before things became official.

“We didn’t know each other before Peloton. We were two Brits in New York [where the company is headquartered],” He said.

Alldis explained that at the time, “We both made pretty big leaps. I went from finance to fitness. She stopped being a professional dancer and went into this… Peloton wasn’t really a brand in the UK, so we were just thrown in depth.”

Because of that, they “became super close as friends and then it just started slowly growing. But, at the same time, we wanted to respect the brand, so we kept it quiet for a while.”
