The man is caught trying to smuggle a turtle through the airport safety in a rather unusual place.
On Tuesday, March 11, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) revealed in a statement that an individual from Pennsylvania caught a turtle in pants at the Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey on March 7th.
The discovery came after an alarm on the TSA body scanner was activated in the area of man’s groin.
“The TSA officer managed the full areas of the human body on which the alarm was launched, and found that there was something hidden in the man’s groin area,” the statement read.
The officials added: “When asked if there is anything hidden in his pants, a man, a resident of Eastern Stroudsburg, Pope, reached to the front of his pants and pulled out a living turtle that was wrapped in a small blue towel.”

TSA officials said that the turtle was about 5 centimeters long, and the man told the staff that the reptiles were a turtle with red ears.
According to a statement, the man was questioned by the police of the Port Authority, who took the turtle and “indicated that they would contact US fish and wildlife and local animal control officers.”

Officials said the man eventually missed the flight and the police threw him off the checkpoint.
“I praise our officer who has spent a very professional fall in an effort to solve an alarm,” Thomas Carter, the federal TSA safety director for New Jersey, said in a statement by Thomas Carter. “We saw passengers trying to cover up knives and other weapons on their person, in their shoes and in luggage, but I believe this was the first time we came across someone who was hiding a living animal down the front of the pants.”
He added, “As we could best say, the turtle did not harm the man’s actions.”
People contacted the Newark Liberty International Airport and the Port Administration Police for further comment.
