Pentatonix's Scott Hoying and Husband Mark Manio Recall 'Unforgettable' Wedding Memory Ahead of 1-Year Anniversary (Exclusive)

Almost a year ago in July 2023, the Pentatonix singer exchanged vows with her husband, Mark Mania, in an intimate ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara, California, after six years of dating.

The couple’s wedding featured all-white flowers and a handwritten exchange of vows under a baby’s breathing arch. The ceremony was led by their friend, musician Christina Perri.

Later in the celebration, during the couple’s first dance, Loren Allred performed “Never Enough” from The greatest showmanwhich Hoying told PEOPLE during the couple’s time “on repeat when they first fell in love.”

To this day, 32-year-old Hoying still considers this moment his favorite wedding memory.

“Loren is truly the highlight of our lives. I watch that video multiple times a week. It was amazing. The whole night was so memorable,” the musician exclusively told PEOPLE at the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City on Saturday, May 12. .

Ahead of their wedding last year, Hoying also told PEOPLE when he knew Mark Manio was the one before popping the question in the Bahamas in April 2022.

“I feel like all of our life experiences and choices and ups and downs have brought us to each other and this is a moment where the people we love the most can see us take the real leap,” Hoying said. “I knew very early on that Mark was the man of my dreams and I truly feel like the luckiest man in the world to have married him.”

“Mark and I have a deep love for the beach and the ocean and some of our most cherished, romantic, lifelong memories are by the beach,” he added.

Now that it’s their first wedding anniversary, the couple said they plan to return to Santa Barbara, “where the wedding was,” Hoying said.

They added that they are also excited about the release of their book of poems and picture books, How happy am I?which comes out on May 21. Manio said: “It sums up our love story, so I guess that’s how we celebrate.”
