Pete Davidson Reveals How Much He Made on Saturday Night Live — and What He Bought With His First Paycheck

Pete Davidson gives a realistic look at his first salary Saturday night live.

On December 4, the 31-year-old comedian got candid about his compensation on the iconic sketch show alongside his fellow students in an Instagram video he posted New York Magazine.

When asked what his “greatest satisfaction” was when he got his first paycheck, Davidson cheekily replied, “Do you know how much they pay us? It’s like three grand an episode, so I think I got dinner!”

Jason Sudeikis was also candid about his salary as a new writer SNL. During his performance on the long-running show, The Ted Lasso the star was a cast member for nine years and worked as a writer for two years.

“I don’t think you’re really making enough money to make big purchases,” he added. “So I think renting in New York is probably the biggest purchase I’ve made since writing SNL first year.”

It also turns out that many SNL cast members used their first paychecks to buy furniture. Elsewhere in the tape, multiple stars, including James Austin Johnson, Sarah Sherman and Cheri Oteri, revealed that they spent the money on decorating their home.

“Couch,” Oteri said. “I had it changed three or four times. I remember the designer coming to me in tears and saying, ‘Oh, those arms are too high. We’re going to get rid of that couch.’ I said, ‘Oh no, not today, Satan!'”

While the rest of the crew spent their money on more practical items, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Bowen Yang used their checks for more luxurious items.

“I bought a pair of shoes that were out of my budget,” laughed Dreyfus. “I have to tell you, I think they were $75.”

Yang also admitted, “Went to Saks across the street and bought a pair of Gucci shoes. The kind that everyone has and the kind that I wouldn’t feel super cool wearing right now.”

Saturday night live airs Saturdays at 11:30pm ET on NBC and may air the following day on Peacock.
