Peter Kay has worked in a variety of locations including a warehouse, a Bingo hall, a toilet paper factory, a gas station and many others. He won the North West Comedian of the Year award despite his inexperience as a newcomer to the field. Kay later began working as a part-time stand-up comedian. He also won Channel 4’s ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ in 1997. His fame grew after winning competitions, but took off after his debut live performance, Live at the Top of the Tower, in 2000. He later went on to appear in many series such as Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Parkison and many others.
Similarly, he made his debut in 1997 with the comedy series New Voices. He was later cast as a pass driver in ‘Two Minutes’, one of his two episodes written by Johanne McAndrew. He played a deliveryman in the six-part marathon drama series ‘Born to Run’ in 1997. For his comedic roles, he won the ‘British Screenwriter’s Award, BAFTA TV Awards, Golden Rose, Banff Rockie Award, and more. Kay also appeared with Cat Deely on BBC Radio 2’s Saturday Morning programme, which runs from 10am to 1pm on 2 January 2021.
