Phil Baroni made his UFC debut at UFC 30 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He faced another batting expert, Curtis Stout, and won by majority vote. Baroni was undefeated before going 3-0 before facing Matt Linda Lando in his second fight, which he lost. However, Baroni soon became known for his UFC fights. His main triumph was a knockout victory over Dave Menne, who was also the UFC middleweight champion at the time.
