She is the daughter of Sebastian N. White of Geneva and Kristin Holby Darnell of Larchmont, NY. Her father works as a nuclear physicist at the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Geneva. Her mother, known professionally as Clotilde, was an actress and model who also ran a clothing store in Clotilde, Larchmont. White also has a stepfather, Dr. James E. Darnell, a professor at Rockefeller University in New York and a molecular cell biologist. She also has a twin sister named Camilla White, who is the design director of Life House Hotels.

In 2013, Phoebe White went to a birthday party at a bar in New York City. There she met Divya Narendra, who was standing in a bar and had not been invited to a birthday party. He only spoke to her for a few minutes, but it gave Narendra enough information to track her online. He managed to find her email address and emailed her, attaching the date. They dated for several years before finally getting married on June 17, 2017, at the Wainwright House in Rye, New York City.

She began her career at J.P. Morgan in June 2009 as a Summer Analyst in Interest Rate Derivatives Trading, a position she held for three months. Thereafter, she became an interest rate derivatives sales analyst at J.P. Morgan, a position she held for two years until August 2012. She was also appointed a fellow at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in June 2012 and served in that position until August 2012. January 2014. In January 2014, she became a senior regulatory policy associate at J.P. Morgan, a position she held until May 2015. In June 2015, she was promoted to Vice President of U.S. Rates Strategy. She held that position until February 2020, then became executive director of U.S. Rates Strategy, a position she has held for more than two years.
