FURIOUS Piers Morgan insists the ball girl should have thrown the ball in Yulia Putintseva’s face as fans booed the tennis ace for her “disgusting arrogance”.
A sullen Putintseva produced a remarkably quiet tantrum en route to a US Open exit against fifth seed Jasmine Paolini.

But viewers were stunned when the 30th seed took out her frustration – in what appeared to be a cruel, creepy way – on the young girl.
Putintseva lost the set and 4-2 in the second when she stared with disdain at the ball girl in a grumpy belt without moving.
But it got worse – when she let one ball thrown by a young man hit her torso and then let another ball bounce off her leg.
The girl remained calm and offered the third ball in the same traditional way – dropping it above her head.
Putintseva, though still looking reluctant, finally moved to lift the ball – perhaps “encouraged” by the growing boos from the crowd.
She later apologized for her actions on social media – insisting she was just frustrated with herself amid her third-round defeat.
But that didn’t save her from raging online.
Morgan TV wrote: “The disgusting arrogance of @PutintsevaYulia – the ball girl should have thrown a third in her mocking face.”

Tennis legend Boris Becker posted: “What does Putintseva think who is … Terrible behavior towards a girl with a ball !!!”
And fans were equally stunned by the inappropriate antics.

One gushed: “Shame on you!!! Humiliating a kid with a ball is the last thing you do on a tennis court..”
“Disgusting behaviour,” said another, while this verdict also spoke for many: “Very bad look. Putintseva should apologize. @usopen has a huge audience and it’s unforgivable to make a ball girl look bad on such a public stage. “
The Moscow-born star, 29, did apologize then.
She posted: “I want to apologize to the ball girl for the way I was when she was giving me balls.
“To be honest, it wasn’t about her.
“I was really mad at myself that I didn’t win the game with a break point, and then I got so empty of my emotions and deep in my thoughts, that I didn’t focus at all on what was happening and who was giving me the ball…
“All the ball kids were great as always at the Open.”
One fan responded: “Well, well, it wasn’t about her! But it was still an unfortunate display of behavior. The right move to apologize.”
