Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond Reveals She ‘Did Not Take Ozempic, Wegovy’ To Lose Weight

Ree Drummond wants to set the record straight: She did not use any weight loss drugs or supplements during her weight loss journey.

Tuesday, A pioneer star, 54, took to Facebook to update a 2021 blog post in which she shared the dos and don’ts of losing weight. In the update, she wrote: “I have not taken Ozempic, Wegovy or similar drugs.”

Ozempic or Wegovy are prescription drugs approved by the FDA for people with type 2 diabetes and obesity. These are the brand names for semaglutide, which works in the brain to affect feelings of satiety, and is the latest Hollywood trend as many use weight loss drugs unlabeled.

“I support anyone who has success using the above remedies. I know they have been an absolute godsend for so many people; I have friends who have experienced amazing results,” said Drummond, noting that she was unaware of the drugs when she began her weight loss journey in January 2021.

“At the time, I just didn’t know these drugs existed, so I started using all the methods listed below,” she explained, referring to the blog post’s mention of changing her diet, fitness and lifestyle.

“Today, even though I’ve gained a few pounds up and down, I still haven’t chosen that option,” she said of the popular weight-loss injections. “But you will never hear from me a condemnation of the people who chose that course!”

In addition, Drummond said she did not take diet pills or other dietary supplements. However, she warned that she is one of many public figures whose name and image have been used in false advertisements as part of a “celebrity endorsement fraud scheme”.

“The biggest takeaway, which I don’t always follow, is try not to waste calories,” Drummond told the outlet. “I could eat a plate of delicious food with different elements, colors and flavors, or I could eat a doughnut.”

She explained that she was “latina [her health] from different directions.” She cut out alcohol, started eating more protein and vegetables, and introduced daily exercise into her routine, such as walking her dogs and using home gym equipment.

“I’m an avid home exerciser, so the rowing machine is probably my favorite,” said Drummond, who admitted her relationship with exercise isn’t perfect. “Right now the rowing machine is a clothes rack.”

Overall, Drummond’s routine emphasizes a bland diet and exercise plan that doesn’t leave out entire food groups or adhere to strict exercise schedules.

“I think in the last two years I’ve known that I don’t want to throw things away or say no to food. I increased the movement a little. Every week I go for a few extra walks with the dogs. I make sure to get on the rowing machine at least once a day, especially during November and December,” she said at the time.
