Podcast Personality Tyler Goodson Killed During Police Standoff

Tyler Goodson, who was featured on the popular S-city podcast series, died after a police standoff, according to authorities.

The New York Times reported that officers arrived at a home in Woodstock, Alabama, after midnight Sunday and reportedly found Goodson, 32, barricaded inside.

“Multiple law enforcement officers from various agencies responded to the scene to assist. During the incident, Goodson brandished a gun at the officers. Goodson was shot and later pronounced dead,” the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a statement to WIAT.

According to Patch.com, Goodson wrote in a Facebook post Sunday, “The police are going to shoot me in my own backyard.”

Speaking about the incident to WVTM-TV, Woodstock Mayor Jeff Dodson called it “the worst day at the office I’ve ever had.” Dodson told the newspaper that he has known Goodson’s family for more than 30 years, which made his situation even more difficult.

“It’s a devastating situation. We’re still — we’re all — still in shock about it. Tyler was a talented young man. I mean he had many talents, but the depression is real. He wasn’t just a podcast character. He was a son, a father , [and] brother. It will be difficult for the family,” he said.

The mayor also asked the public to be “compassionate and respectful” of Goodson’s loved ones. Woodson leaves behind five children, according to WBRC.
