A handful of Radiant Pokémon cards have been officially revealed for the Pokémon Trading Card Game‘s collaboration with Pokémon GO. The special crossover was first announced in 2021 with the release of the Pokémon GO Professor Willow TCG card as a promotional item on the Pokémon Center store. After months of anticipation, the Pokémon GO TCG expansion finally got a release date announced for July 2022. When the set launches this summer, players will be able to collect a series of rare Radiant Pokémon cards featuring popular Pokémon such as Venusaur and Blastoise.
Just like the launch of Pokémon GO in 2016, the mobile game’s first Pokémon TCG expansion will heavily feature Gen 1 Kanto Pokémon such as Pikachu, Articuno, and Mewtwo. The special subset will include signature Pokémon GO locations and characters including the game’s iconic team leaders Candela, Blanche, and Spark as full art Trainer cards. The new peelable Pokémon GO TCG Ditto mechanic will also make its debut and features special cards with sticker art that players can peel back to reveal a Ditto holographic underneath.
The rarest cards in the Pokémon GO TCG set will be Radiant Pokémon. The rare TCG variant first made its debut in the Astral Radiance expansion in May. Radiant Pokémon cards not only have a unique textured holographic on the card, but they also include artwork depicting Shiny Pokémon. The incredibly powerful cards will be included in the Pokémon GO TCG crossover and will feature Gen 1 Kanto Starter Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Below is a list of every Radiant Pokémon card revealed so far for the July Pokémon TCG release.
Radiant Charizard Card In The Pokémon GO TCG
Ever since its debut in the 1999 Base Set expansion, the TCG’s Charizard Pokémon cards continue to be the series’ most valuable collector’s items in every new release it’s featured in. The Shiny Radiant Charizard card looks to be no exception, as many collectors are already anticipating it to be the most sought-after card when the Pokémon GO TCG expansion releases in July.
The epic Pokémon GO TCG card features artwork from veteran artist Shigenori Negishithe who depicts the wildly popular black Shiny Charizard surrounded by a wall of flames. The Radiant Charizard card includes the powerful Combustion Blast move which can dish out a staggering 250 points of damage to opponents.
Pokémon GO TCG’s Radiant Venusaur
Beloved Kanto Starter Venusaur will also make its debut as a Radiant Pokémon card in the Pokémon GO TCG crossover release. The Radiant Venusaur card features vibrant artwork of pink and red flora in the background while the Shiny Gen 1 Pokémon is surrounded by its green vines.
The rare Pokémon GO TCG expansion card includes the move Pollen Hazard, which not only does 90 damage, but also leaves opponents’ Pokémon burned, confused, and poisoned. The Radiant Venusaur also has the incredibly nifty Sunny Blook ability, which allows players to draw up to 4 cards in their hand at the end of their turn.
Radiant Blastoise Card In The Pokémon GO TCG
Pokémon TCG collectors will be able to pull Kanto Water-type Starter Blastoise as a Radiant card in the Pokémon GO set. Veteran Pokémon artist Masakazu Fukuda created the artwork for the Radiant Blastoise. The card depicts the Shiny Squirtle evolution surrounded by a torrent of water circling behind it.
Similar to Radiant Charizard, the rare Pokémon TCG GO card has a powerful attack that is technically not able to be used during a player’s next turn. Despite that, its Pump Shot ability puts damage on opponents’ benched Pokémon, making it an interesting card for both players and collectors to chase after.
The final Radiant card confirmed so far for the Pokémon GO TCG set is the beloved Gen 1 Normal-type Eevee. Ever since its first appearance in Pokémon Red and Blue, Eevee’s rare Pokémon Evolutions have made it one of the series’ most popular Pokémon. Although the majority of the Pokémon GO TCG Radiant cards are the Kanto Starters, the Radiant Eevee card is a Black Star Promo. It has a beautiful rainbow color scheme running throughout its holographic.
The Pokémon GO TCG set will officially release on Friday, July 1 with a series of products. Collectors who want to get their hands on the rare Radiant Eevee will have to pick up the Pokémon GO Premium Collection as the collectible is boxed in as a promotional item. With many classic Kanto Pokémon getting rare Radiant cards, the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s collaboration with Pokémon GO is already looking to be a massive hit with fans.
