Pokémon Legends: Arceus: How To Find (& Catch) Hisuian Lilligant

Lilligant was given a Hisuian form in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for trainers to find and capture. With Pokémon Legends: Arceus taking place in the distant past, many of the popular cities and towns from the Sinnoh region have yet to be built. Only a handful of locations containing legendary Pokémon can be found while exploring this new world. Similar to the Alola and Galar regions, Hisui has new Pokémon that takes its environment into account. These forms can only be captured in this game and each one acts as one of the region’s Noble Pokémon. In the case of Hisuian Lilligant, it is one of the boss battle Pokémon that trainers are assigned to quell.

Defeating Hisuian Lilligant in battle will continue the story, but it will not register the Pokémon in the Pokédex. The main objective of the game is to go around the region and capture as many Pokémon as possible. Doing this will unlock the Shiny Charm and the game’s secret boss. To work towards this goal, the player will need to have their own Hisuian Lilligant. Fortunately, its evolution method is exactly the same as it was in Pokémon Black and White.

To evolve Petilil into Lilligant, the player will need to expose it to a Sun Stone. First, trainers can find and capture a Petilil in the Crimson Mirelands only after defeating the first Noble Pokémon. It will appear in Cottonsedge Prairie, located to the north of Droning Meadow and the east of Scarlet Bog. It will appear near yellow flowers and won’t attack the player as they approach. Just throw a Pokéball to add it to roster. All Petilil that are captured in the Hisui region will always default to evolving into Hisuian Lilligant, and then they’ll just need a Sun Stone.

How To Get A Sun Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

There are four different ways to find a Sun Stone in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

  • Method 1: Players can purchase one from the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. It will cost 1,000 merit points to purchase. These are rewarded for finding a player’s lost satchel in the wilds.
  • Method 2: Ursaluna has the chance to find Sun Stones when digging for treasure.
  • Method 3: Sun Stones have the chance to appear within Space-Time Distortions around the region.
  • Method 4: There’s a chance for Sun Stones to appear from breaking open ore.

Just use the Sun Stone on Petilil and it will automatically evolve into Hisuian Lilligant, no further steps are needed. Unlike its Unova form, Hisuian Lilligant is a Grass and Fighting-type Pokémon. Its physical attack stat and its speed are what make this Pokémon shine. While it is weak to Flying, Poison, Bug, Ice, and Fire attacks, it does resist Ground, Electric, Grass, and Water. It’s not clear how Pokémon Home support will work with Pokémon Legends: Arceus in the future, but it’s likely Hisuian Lilligant will have its own dedicated entry.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
