Paldea’s treasure ruins, found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, admittedly they have a bad reputation, but they are more villains than outright villains. Every member of the legendary quartet is associated with disaster and destruction, no wonder they were sealed in ancient times. However, when analyzing Treasure’s history, it seems that these four men may actually be villains of their own.
Treasures of Devastation are very powerful Pokémon that destroyed the castles of the Paldean kings in ancient times. Each one is like a valuable item, in keeping with the general theme of the treasure Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but it is their very nature that makes these treasures seem cursed. They may also be the only known Legendary Pokémon in Paldea, as the game mascots Koraidon and Miraidon may not be Legendary Pokémon. But despite the threat, the story of the ruined treasure is clearly a cautionary tale—the Pokédex entry shows them as the embodiment of suffering, suggesting that their atrocities were motivated by righteous rage.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – Treasure in the Ruins Has a Righteous Motive
Treasures in the ruins include Wo Jian, Jian Bao, Ting Lu, and Zhi Yu—or, a set of wooden boards, a sword, a large ceremonial vase, and a set of beads. Each treasure is transformed into a Pokémon through the power of negative emotions. For example, Wo-Chien’s steles were “punished” by those who recorded the evil deeds of the Paldean kings, most likely by execution. Other Pokémon have similarly dark origin stories, showing the humans of the time living in fear of authoritarian leaders. It was the king’s actions that helped create Pokémon Scarlet and Violettreasure, who in turn acted only on the resentment that overwhelmed them.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s treasure ruins are more villains than demons
While clearly unkind, it is true that Treasure was originally resurrected to avenge the king. This really puts them in the category of anti-heroes, performing terrible deeds for a good cause. Obviously their brutality caused much suffering, but it began with the destruction of the king’s castle; a clear sign of their indignation. Also, nowadays, a child (player) can tame all four. Instead of these Pokémon being actually evil creatures, it seems Pokémon scarlet and purpleNew legends just need a steady hand to keep them in the ranks.
Given their gruesome lore and their ominous Pokédex entries, it seems odd to place relic treasures in the light of any hero. However, when considering the context of their origin, they appear to be less sinister and more vengeful, despite possessing terrifying powers. So it seems that the title of anti-hero is too appropriate. The quartet is certainly dangerous, but the non-legendary characters are also life-threatening; Pokémon Scarlet and VioletFor example, even though Grivard has a very friendly demeanor, he has the potential to be lethal. The historical weight of the treasures in the ruins further enhances their reputation.
