Ming Tsai is a man on a mission
Tsai remains a humble and down-to-earth person despite the thousands of social media followers and numerous accolades that adorn his home. Due to his wife’s illness, he is aware of the financial difficulties others face in similar circumstances. As such, he is currently working to help such people through Family Reach, in hopes of giving them tremendous help and helping them persevere.
Additionally, he’s launching ‘MingBings’, a line of highly nutritious vegan burgers to support cancer research. A portion of proceeds from this initiative will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This is also the facility where Tsai’s wife has been receiving treatment for the past 3 years.
Even a portion of the profits are donated to Family Reach. Tsai, who was born into a family of gourmets, is a philanthropist and believes deeply in human values. In 2010, he met Darlene, a cancer patient, who expressed a desire to dine at his Blue Ginger restaurant.
He prepares meals and personally takes care of Darlene and her family. Through Family Reach, he learned about the impact of cancer, and when his wife was diagnosed with lung cancer, he knew exactly what she would have to go through. Despite the difficulty, he continued the work of sacrifice, hoping that at least one of his two sons would wear a chef’s hat. After all, it’s part of the family!
