Pooja Batra was born on 27 October 1976 in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh (47 years old as of 2023). She holds a degree in Economics from Ferguson College, Pune and an MBA in Marketing from Symbiosis International University, Pune. When she was in school, she was active in sports. She has competed in the 200-meter and 400-meter sprints. Pooja has represented her school in various athletics competitions at the national level. Her mother was one of the top five contestants of Miss India 1971, which encouraged her to keep going. Therefore, with the encouragement of her mother, she participated in the Miss Female International Competition in 1993. Additionally, she was one of the semi-finalists in the Miss International beauty pageant. After completing her studies, she entered the Bollywood industry.

Pooja Batra was born into a Hindu Khatri family, her father Ravi Batra is a soldier and her mother Neelam Batra is a beautician. She has two brothers. She was born into a family with a military background; therefore, she attended twelve different schools in twelve years. As a child, she was a spoiled child. Although she was born in Faizabad, her roots can be traced back to Ludhiana in Punjab.

In 2002, Batra tied the knot with Dr. Sonu S Ahluwalia, a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles. However, the two parted ways and Pooja filed for divorce in 2011.

Pooja Batra joined the modeling industry at a very young age. Her parents wanted her to finish school and then join the glamor world. Therefore, she worked part-time as a model to fund her education. At the age of 18, she participated in the Miss India Women competition and was crowned Miss India International. While she was still in college, she started receiving film offers; however, she wanted to finish her studies first. She came into the limelight after appearing in a television commercial for Liril soap.
She made her Bollywood debut in 1997 in the film Veerasat, opposite Tabu and Anil Kapoor.
After “Virasat”, Batra acted in “Bhai”.
Apart from working in mainstream films, Pooja has also appeared in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi films. She made her acting debut in the Malayalam film “Chandralekha” (1997), the Telugu film “Greeku Veerudu” (1998) and the Punjabi film “Killer Punjabi” (2016).
She joined theater in Los Angeles when she married Dr. Sonu S Ahluwalia. In 2004, she starred in the film “Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story” which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
