Well, I auditioned for the role and got it. Before, I knew as much about Baba Sahib Ambedkar as an average person knows through school textbooks, but there is so much more to his story than that. When I got the role, I started reading about him, his biographies as well as his autobiography, which were all amazing and eye-opening. I really believe that his story needs to be told and it can only be told in the form of a series because it is a long story and I don’t think a movie or a documentary can do it justice. I think it is a huge responsibility to play a character like this and when you get the opportunity, the first thing to do is to know every detail of his personality and life. Knowing him is the basic thing I am doing now and apart from that, looking like him is my goal. I had lost a lot of weight before joining this show and obviously now I have to gain a lot of weight. Not only that, I have also enrolled in a law college in Pune just to know a little bit about the Constitution. ”
