Career
Prashant applied to Air Force Academy (AFA) in Hyderabad after 3 years of training in NDA.
Prashant joined the IAF as a Flight Officer on 19 December 1998 after completing his formal training.
While an IAF officer, he attended many military colleges including “Defense Services College (DSSC) in Wellington and Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) in Montgomery, Alabama, United States of America”.
Isro along with the Air Force has selected more than 30 veteran pilots from the Service to be part of the Gaganyaan mission 2018, the objective of this mission is to place astronauts 400 km above sea level for 3 days and then land safely on Earth in 2025.
In this mission 12 out of these 30 pilots, the rest were rejected in mid-2019, later only four candidates were shortlisted, their names were Group Captain Nair, Group Captain Pratap, Group Captain Krishnan and Wing Commander Shukla.
